Get the scoop on Eating and cooking healthy
nutritional food.
Anyone can change bad eating habits. It’s never too
late! One great reason to eat healthy is to be a positive role model for our youth.
Many diseases plaguing our country are preventable with a healthy diet. I will be
updating the Scoop often with helpful examples to assist you and your family towards
eating healthy.
Hint I:
Share with your family what are healthy foods. (check out
mypyramid.gov) Be sure to have the kids get involved. Have them help plan
a weekly menu and make a food list for shopping. This will cut cost and stop unhealthy
compulsive purchases. Kids love to snack, so be sure to add snacks to the list.
Some good choices are: pretzels, all natural popcorn, fruits and carrot sticks (washed
and ready to eat), applesauce (no added sweeteners), all natural yogurts (most market
brands are loaded with artificial sweeteners and artificial flavorings) Be sure
to read the labels. Give this job to your young reader; it will help enhance their
knowledge on healthy foods. Clue: Stonyfield
brand is one good example with no bad additives.
